Description: BASIC was the first computer language in this generation. This is a huge thing for the third generation. Another big thing about this is the first computer language that is easy enough for normal people to use. This in a great advancement because previously, only people that had college level training could use access the computer language. This allows everyone to be able to write computer software.

Brief biography: John Kemeny was born May 31, 1926 in Hungary. In 1940, he moved to the United States. He settled in New York and went to George Washington High School. He went to Princeton University and studied math and philosophy. When he graduated, he worked for Albert Einstein. Then he quit and started working with Thomas Kurtz.

Brief biography:Thomas Kurtz was born February 22, 1928 in Oak Park. He went to Princeton University and graduated with a P.H.D. He met John Kemeny and they started building earlier models of BASIC. On May 1, 1964 they finally finished their project. He then became a professor at Emiritus at Dartmouth.
